Some people
pause
For a lifetime-
Just waiting
For the push
That must be a smile
Or a word
Or a hurt
That cuts them out
Off their rut.
But the smile
The word
That great hurt
It is never enough
To force out life
Like a mother’s
Last scream.
(That only happens once.)
And then
Some people say-
It is too much.
They shall wait-
For something else.
Sheesh Pser,
ReplyDeleteI wrote a super lengthy comment, and it just vanished. So annoying. In any case, this post makes me laugh, though I suspect it probably shouldn't. I can't help the irreverence sometimes. It just bubbles up inside of me. :-)
I'm getting a strong sense of you in this post. That's not to say I really understand it. But I like it nonetheless. Luffly xx
Miss Tnt!
ReplyDeleteof course there's a strong sense of me in this giddy poem. I'm the ultimate procrastinator. Even Dr. Seuss can't haul me out....
As for your irreverence- it comes with the hair. We can't help ourselves ;P
LOL, Pser! :-P
ReplyDeleteI don't think you are a procrastinator. Nope, not at all. And that's not at all what I meant when I said I get a strong sense of you in this. Don't be putting words in my mouth.
:-)
ah. my bad. i take full responsibility then- for uttering such slighting words!
ReplyDelete*yawn*
i have more to say but- hyum...later?
;)
SLM:
ReplyDeleteSome among us believe in being born again. I had trouble with the concept being Muslim but mostly ... ummm being troubled :0)
But in another sense there is a freedom in being born again for reasons of living again ... and doing so beyond the limitation of being stuck in layers of contemplative regret.
It is true that the act of physical birth is just once for the born ... but it is also true that you can remake yourself over and over again.
But, it is easier to write this and harder to live it ... well consistently.
(and please don't think me a "birther" ;0)
Nice to read you here P.
Onward!

ReplyDeleteThanks:)
And you're right about the re-creation....perhaps what many people struggle with, is that even though they might be 'new'- they still get treated as 'old' selves?
A baby is infinite possibility and hardly any past rancour. I wonder which factor is more powerful....
(but i wasn't even thinking of all that when I wrote this. just that some people will always find an excuse to be right where they are. myself included:P)
